Music
At Ravensthorpe CE (VC) Junior School, we are passionate about music. We provide all pupils with a varied and rich music curriculum, designed to engage all learners. Pupils listen to music from varied cultures and from across the centuries, from the Baroque era through to more modern, 21st Century music; this can include classical pieces by Bach, Mozart and Elgar as well as John Williams and Taylor Swift! Across year groups, pupils have access to a wide variety of tuned and untuned instruments. Through composition and performance, pupils are exposed to a wide range of technical musical vocabulary which is then transferred to graphic notations and music staves. In year 3, pupils participate in weekly African Drumming lessons which are provided by Kirklees Musica staff members. Pupils are also given the opportunity to purchase further instrument lessons (from Musica). If you would like your child to have instrument lessons, click here or ask in school for further details.
