In September, members of the Navy visited school to work with some of our Y6 pupils. Reading the book 'Stormbreaker', our pupils were able to learn more about the challenges that the main character, Alex, faced and how he could receive help when completing his physical trials. They talked to us about the work they do and the support and relief they provide - for example after natural disasters. The volunteers explained the Royal Navy values and why they themselves had wanted to join the Navy and help others. We talked about what it would be like to be stranded and how we could use a flare to signal the need for help (and how asking for help is important). We then made our own flares and flew them outside - as you can see from our pictures, some went really high!
We would like to thank our volunteers - they were brilliant and we learnt a lot!
